OURBIT

Connecting family time and energy awareness in one app.

Project
overview.

An interactive smart meter app concept that starts with shared family time and uses it as an opening for energy awareness.

01 / The question

What needed
exploring?

How might a household move from individual routines and energy use toward shared activities and more conscious choices?

02 / The approach

How I
worked.

I used a lean design process to challenge research assumptions and define the problem. I applied the COM-B model and a risk matrix, then developed an empathy map, UX vision, design principles, wireframes and an interactive prototype.

03 / The outcome

What I
designed.

The prototype explores overlapping schedules, activity requests, family profiles, scores and energy information. My final reflection identifies open questions about whether families would choose the activities, keep using the app and need digital prompts to connect. Smart-meter syncing and adaptive AI are proposed capabilities; measured savings or family outcomes are not claimed.

A design decision, in context

From family connection to energy use.

Research insight map: connection and communication precede energy awareness

What informed it

I mapped the problem from household fragmentation through reduced communication to individual energy use. The original research page shows my reasoning at full size.

What the work shows

The insight sequence led to a family schedule and shared activity concept. The wireframes and high fidelity screens show how I translated that decision into navigation and interface choices; energy savings and AI personalisation remain proposed capabilities.
